Thank you for another successful year at Vacation Celebration Week! We had a great time hearing stories, making crafts, playing games, and signing songs.
This year we learned all about hot to be peacemakers in this world…
- Learn about your self and why you think, feel, and believe the way you do
- Learn to listen and see things from another point of view
- Learn how to solve problems peacefully in your own life
- Learn about different ways of living and thinking
- Learn about what is happening in the world around you.
Sunday Worship. Worship is a time for celebration and contemplation. Through song and prayer, through silence and the spoken word, through sharing Communion, we remember that we are children of God.
Weekly worship begins at 10:00 on Sunday morning.
Communion. We celebrate Communion on the first Sunday of every month. At First Presbyterian Church of Glen Cove we practice open communion. This means one does not have to be a member of this church or any church to participate. All are invited to join in this important sacrament.
WEPC 2015 Lenten Study Series. Eat, Pray, and Study Together! Every Tuesday beginning February 24. Check the Calendar for more information and locations.
Other Special Services. Throughout the church year other special services are offered, including World Communion Sunday, Christmas Eve worship, Ash Wednesday Service, Maundy Thursday, Easter Services, Remembering Martin Luther King, Children’s Sabbath, Pride Sunday, Women’s Sunday, and others. Please see “Special Services” and other tabs at left for more information.
This is an interactive Bible study class for couples and singles. We explore a variety of spiritual issues in an attempt to relate those ideas to our modern lives. The wide range of experiences stimulates lively and thought provoking discussions.
“Our bible study is member-run. Topics, styles, and teachers may vary from week to week.
First Presbyterian is an open and affirming church. All are welcome to participate in the full life of the church regardless of race, gender, religious heritage, nationality, sexual orientation, gender identity, political persuasion, economic status, educational level, or physical health and ability.”
First Presbyterian Church participates in the West End Presbyterian Cluster, a network of 9 Presbyterian churches, in Baldwin, Freeport, Garden City, Glen Cove, Levittown, Malverne, Massapequa, Melville, and Oceanside. Together we organize youth group events, retreats, mission trips, Confirmation classes, and interfaith experiences. Additionally we jointly engage in Lenten studies for adults, retreats and leadership development and mission efforts.
Youth and Sunday School
A portion of our service is always devoted to our children. Pastor delivers an interactive children’s message every Sunday. Our children also participate in a youth choir, hand bell choir, and annual Christmas pageant. We offer a multi-age Sunday school curriculum that works synergistically with Pastor’s sermon.
Childcare and nursery services are also offered during worship.
All who attend services can stay for our fellowship hour directly after worship and enjoy good conversation, friendship, and light refreshment.
The Gregarians frequently sponsor social events. This may include museum visits, nature walks, game nights, BBQ’s and much more. Sometimes we get very creative.
As the name implies, The Gregarians are a “gregarious” group of individuals. Membership is open to the public and participants represent a diverse group of individuals from the Glen Cove area. Please see below to view upcoming events. For inquiries call First Presbyterian Church at (516) 671-0258 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to be added to our Gregarian email list
Robbie Burns Dinner at the home of Sue and Lance Cheney
The final Sunday of each month at noon OutNAbout Glen Cove presents a film of interest to the LGBT community followed by discussion. This is a very informal event held at First Presbyterian Church of Glen Cove.
Popcorn and light refreshments are provided and those attending can contribute to help underwrite this expense if they like. The films are not first run films as is the case with the Long Island Gay and Lesbian Film Festival, but rather films that may have been released in the past but still hold relevance to the LGBT community and are especially enjoyed when viewed with friends.
For more information please contact the church office.
